Legality of a crucifix on the front door of a public building

Key facts of the case - The applicant brought before the administrative court of Besançon the decision of the city council to display religious symbols on the front door of the City hall and asked for those symbols to be removed. The Court rejected his appeal. Before the administrative court of appeal of Nancy, he argues that the first level judges wrongly considered that the Town wanted to restore the crucifix and previously existing religious inscriptions.
Main reasoning of the court - The administrative court of appeal of Nancy confirmed the decision of the administrative court of Besançon and deemed that the decision of the City wasn’t in breach of both Articles 2 and 28 of the December, 9th 1905 Act of separation between the State and Churches and the 1958 Constitution.
